JR GRAY CROWNED 2025 NHRA PRO MOD WORLD CHAMPION

Final Round Fight for the 2025 Championship and Event

Las Vegas, NV — November 3, 2025 — In one of the most dramatic finishes in NHRA Pro Mod history, JR Gray and the Al Anabi Racing team clinched the 2025 NHRA Pro Mod World Championship, defeating Billy Banaka in the final round of the JBS Equipment-powered NHRA Nevada Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The showdown came down to just one single point entering the final event. Banaka arrived in Las Vegas as the championship leader and set the tone early by qualifying No. 1, while Gray sat close behind, determined to finish the fight on his terms. When the smoke cleared Sunday evening, it was Gray who stood tall—claiming the event victory and the world title in a storybook ending to the 2025 season.

“This is what we’ve worked toward all year,” said Gray in the winner’s circle. “Our entire Al Anabi Racing crew gave me a car capable of winning a championship. To win the race and the title —it doesn’t get any better than this.”

Gray’s 2025 campaign was a masterclass in consistency and composure. With four event wins, five final-round appearances, and the title of FuelTech “King of the Stripe” winner, the Al Anabi Racing driver proved himself one of the most determined and versatile competitors in the series.

The team’s combination of tuning precision, mechanical excellence, and disciplined execution powered Gray through every challenge. From Gainesville to Bristol and finally to Las Vegas, the Al Anabi Racing Camaro remained a constant threat, delivering performance when it mattered most.

Runner-up Billy Banaka also turned in a season to remember, entering the Nevada Nationals at the top of the standings after a year marked by performance and poise. His No. 1 qualifying position in Las Vegas and strong march to the final round underscored why he led the points and why the 2025 championship battle will be remembered as one of the fiercest in recent history.

Banaka’s effort pushed the title fight to the final round of the final race—a true showcase of Pro Mod’s depth of talent and competitive spirit.

Gray credited the entire Al Anabi Racing organization for its relentless drive and unity throughout the year.

“This team never stopped working,” Gray said. “Every round, every pass—they gave me the confidence to go out and do my job. A championship like this doesn’t happen without total commitment from everyone involved.”

The victory also solidified Al Anabi Racing’s return to championship form and highlighted the collective effort that carried the team through one of the tightest points battles in NHRA Pro Mod history.

With the NHRA Pro Mod world championship trophy now secured, Gray and the Al Anabi Racing team are already preparing to defend their crown in 2026.

“Winning one is special,” Gray said with a grin. “But now we’ve got a target on our back—and that’s exactly where we want to be.”
