The biggest race of the year delivered a fitting result for the reigning world champion, as J.R. Gray claimed the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports victory at the Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis.

The biggest race of the year is here, and the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports is bringing a loaded 21-car field to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park for this week’s 72nd annual Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals.

In an industry still widely regarded as male-dominated, NHRA Pro Mod Series Manager Debbie O’Rourke has built an international career that spans professional motorsports, corporate leadership, strategy, innovation and commercial development.

Shane Gray is heading back to NHRA competition, and his return will come in a new class, with a familiar group around him. The former Pro Stock national event winner will make his Pro Mod debut in 2027, driving in the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Modified Series presented by Elite Motorsports.
