Mason Wright delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals, capturing his first Congruity NHRA Pro Mod victory of the season at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. This win marks his second career triumph in the NHRA Pro Mod ranks and is a significant comeback after a crash at the same venue two years ago.
Wright’s weekend began with a stellar qualifying run of 5.676 seconds at 253.66 mph, earning him the No. 1 qualifier position. He maintained remarkable consistency throughout eliminations, defeating Chip King, Mike Stavrinos, and Ken Quartuccio with passes in the low 5.70-second range.
In the final round, Wright faced J.R. Gray, who red-lit at the start, handing Wright the victory. Nonetheless, Wright clocked a solid 5.734-second run at 251.25 mph in his Chevrolet Camaro, underscoring his dominance.
Reflecting on the win, Wright credited his team’s efforts: “You can’t take any of these teams lightly. The team carried me the whole way today. I did not do my job on the starting line on any pass, and the team deserves all of this. They won this race, and this is all for them.”
This victory propels Wright to fifth in the Pro Mod standings, positioning him as a strong contender for the remainder of the season. The Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series continues with the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway in Tennessee, scheduled for June 6–8.
