Jason Collins Scores First NHRA Pro Mod Victory in Only His Second Start

CECIL, Ga. — May 3, 2026 — Jason Collins earned his first career victory in the JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports in only his second series appearance, defeating Mike Thielen in the final round at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

Driving the Scott Tidwell Racing entry, Collins qualified second and completed an impressive day of eliminations with a 5.731-second run at 252.99 mph in the final. His .009-second reaction time gave him the early advantage, and he maintained the lead through the finish line to secure his first NHRA Pro Mod Wally.

Collins advanced through a strong field with round wins over Mason Wright, Sidnei Frigo and Lyle Barnett before meeting Thielen in the championship round. He also recorded a best elapsed time of 5.685 seconds during Sunday’s eliminations.

The victory came just one week after Collins made his NHRA Pro Mod debut at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, making his rapid rise even more impressive.

“It’s hard to believe,” Collins said following the win. “I know it’s my second NHRA race, but I’ve done a lot of racing in my life.”

Collins credited his family, Scott Tidwell, his crew and the team responsible for preparing and tuning the highly consistent Pro Mod Camaro.

His breakthrough victory immediately established him as a contender in the highly competitive 2026 JBS Equipment NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Elite Motorsports.
